It all began with a couple seeds that I planted in my house. Once the warm weather arrived I transferred my plants outside and this is what grew. I'm always amazed at what takes off from just a couple seeds.
After sterilizing the jars and lids I filled each jar with whole garlic cloves, mustard seeds, whole black pepper corns, and red pepper flakes.
And packed wedges and slices of cucumbers into the jars.
I then poured a brine of water, apple cider vinegar, and pickling salt over top, leaving a 1/2 inch head space.
After putting the lids on tightly they go back into the pot to be boiled for 5 minutes.
The pickles have to sit for 1 week, then they will be ready to be eaten.
