DIY Jewelry Board

Over the past couple years I have collected a large amount of jewelry, mostly necklaces. As I collected more pieces I was having a difficult time trying to store it all. If my jewelry is hidden in a jewelry box I have a tendency to forget it's there. Opps!

Recently I found an unused bulletin board in my garage, and a light bulb went off in my head. "What if I hung my jewelry on this board?" Last week I added a some personal touches to make it my own, like painting the border an antique white and placing some of my favorite horoscopes along the bottom. Right now I have my jewelry board sitting on a shelf, but it would look great hanging a wall.

DIY Jewelry Board
Can be completed in one day.
Level of difficulty: easy.

Supplies:
- Newspaper
- Bulletin Board
- Painters Tape
- Paint Brush
- Paint
- Tacs

1. Lay the newspaper over a large surface. Don't skip this step. Paints like acrylic will not come out!

2. Using the painters tape, tape around the border on the inside of the bulletin board. You will want to do this so that when you are painting you only paint the border, not the board itself.

3. Paint the border! I chose an antique white, but choose any color that suits you. I recommend applying 2-3 even coats, allowing the paint to dry in between each application.

4. After the last coat of pain, carefully pull away the tape. In my experience if you remove the tape when the paint is dry, the tape can pull up some of the paint (or chip it). Therefore, I removed the tape while the paint was semi wet. Allow to dry completely, about 1 hour.

5. For decoration I taped some of my favorite daily and birthday horoscopes along the bottom. You could also use pictures, magazine cutouts, or favorite quotes. Make it your own!

6. Lay the bulletin board down on a flat surface and arrange your jewelry to how you would like it to hang. Once you have everything where you would like it to be, insert the tacs into the board. Place your board upright and hang your necklaces, bracelets, and rings on the tacs.

- This is a very simple and clean way to showcase your jewelry. For my board I hung the majority of my necklaces and 2 bangles. I like to keep my rings and watches in a bowl that sits next to my board.

Happy Friday!
