Although I never really make plans for this day I love to carve pumpkins and eat excessive amounts of candy. And this year I can justify eating pounds of it. Yesterday I ran the Marine Corp Marathon. It was awesome and I had a lot of fun running it up until mile 20. At mile 20 I had a serious moment. There is this bridge you run across that takes you from d.c. to crystal city and it's the longest, most painful bridge to run across ever. I've never had so much pain in my hips during a run. But, I finished, creating a new slowest personal record, and I made it out alive. Even though I was moving like a turtle, I am quite happy with how I did, considering I didn't train one bit. The longest run I did was 13 miles back in early September at a half marathon in Philly. Some weeks I only ran 2 days, so to be able to sort of walk today is kind of a miracle. I've honestly never been so sore and I've learned my lesson. If you want to be able to walk after a marathon, please train.

Here I am running at mile 9 through Georgetown.
To do something for Halloween, besides carve my pumpkins, I made some pumpkin oatmeal cookies. The recipe is very similar to regular oatmeal cookies, but with the addition of pumpkin puree and spices like cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. The glaze is made from confectioners sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and rice milk.
Hope everyone has a great Halloween! Here is a flashback of Halloween circa 1992. Every time I see this picture I have a good laugh!
