My job's building is the worst. The power is constantly going out. A generator would help keep things cool and um...in business, but hey, what do I know. So since the power went out last night and wasn't on this morning I got called out of work. It's nice to have a random day off to catch up on things. The only down side is once I was up for work, I was up and unable to go back to sleep. Thus, I have begun drinking coffee. A little afternoon treat along with the blueberry streusel and chocolate chip muffins I made this morning in between episodes of the wire.
A couple years ago I saw maybe two episodes but that was it. Then there was the time a friend forced me to drive deep into west baltimore to find a particular street corner seen on the show. And that was all I knew about the wire...up until a week ago. This is how it started. Me and the sis hit up border's since its closing and all. All books were at least 25% off. I got this jam book, "Blue Chair Fruit" for almost half the original price. The book is at least 2 1/2 inches thick and full of jam techniques and recipes! I also got Gwyneth Paltrow's new cookbook, "My Fathers Daughter", which is awesome! Now, not all the recipes are vegan or gluten free, but lots are. For the recipes that are vegan she puts a little carrot next to the recipe and on some she has a "make it vegan" section. How cool! Everyone can hate on her, but I love her. She's pretty cool in my book. I'll post more on that book later! ANYWAY back to the wire. So since everything was on sale, the entire first season was cheap, so the sis bought it, and there our addiction began. We began watching 1 or 2 episodes per evening, but when she went away for the weekend I couldn't wait for her to come back. So I spent Friday and Saturday evening finishing the season. And OMG! I couldn't put it down. Sis is almost caught up, which is good because I ordered season 2 and 3, which will arrive this week! If you have never watched it you really need to, but I warn you, it's incredibly addicting. Omar is the scariest man ever, yet I am incredibly attracted to him. You must watch.
Until next time...kb
